How did you first find out about memoryBlue?

Funny story. I found out about memoryBlue in a very unconventional manner. My first job out of college was doing door-to-door office supply sales and my territory was Tysons Corner. Well, one day in August 2013 I walked into 8230 (memoryBlue) looking to peddle some office supplies. I walk into memoryBlue on the fifth floor, after getting yelled at by a legal practice on the third floor, and I am confronted by a man named Chris Corcoran and he tells me to come back in three weeks. Three weeks later, I am able convince Chris to switch his office supply provider and save memoryBlue some money with me. I sold Chris office supplies and he sold me on a job at memoryBlue that same day. I haven’t looked back since.

What initially attracted you to the company?

Two things really attracted me to the company.

Firstly, memoryBlue provides people with a platform to be successful as quickly as possible in an incredible industry. There are five different avenues to take, three within the organization and two outside of the organization, to launch your career. I’ve been here for 14 months and I’ve seen so many of my colleagues move on and establish their careers whether they got promoted internally or were placed at a company externally.

Secondly, the personalized training you get here has been critical to my personal success. My sales game has improved by tenfold since I started here and I’m learning every day. This company put me in a position to get real life sales experience and develop my sales skill on an ongoing basis. I didn’t even fully notice how good my sales skills had become until I started interacting with inside sales professionals at other companies; it obvious memoryBlue is a step above.

You started as an Account Executive and were then promoted internally. Why did you decide to stay with memoryBlue?

memoryBlue is expanding so fast and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to grow with a company that is on the rise. This company has such a high ceiling and the fact that memoryBlue was willing to trust and invest in my skills to grow the company even further meant a lot. I wanted to be in a position where I could help my colleagues, just as I was helped, reach their goals and launch a successful career.

I chose not to walk away from memoryBlue’s culture as it’s one that has supported me during the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. This company is made of young aspiring professionals that work hard to play hard and many of my friends at work are my friends outside of work. Sales is a roller coaster so it makes a world of difference when you love the people you work with.
