Hitting the Career Jackpot

Most people coming out of college and entering the workforce don’t know exactly what they want to do, and that’s understandable. But how does starting out your career with uncapped earning opportunities that come close to, or even reach, six figures annualized sound?

Jack Klaas has always been interested in money, so getting a degree in finance and pursuing a profession with a high-earning potential seemed obvious.

But as his college career came to a close, his graduation cap wasn’t the only thing up in the air. Now what?! After a summer spent pondering his next move and peddling bike rentals to summer tourists on the eastern seashore, Jack applied to memoryBlue, where he saw his “work hard, play hard” attitude earn him fast and fun rewards.

In just eight months, Jack went from catching rays to cashing a whopping $14,000 monthly bonus check and earning himself a spot in the memoryBlue “High Roller” hall of fame. Jack may have initially been unsure of how to achieve his monetary dreams, but now, less than two years into his memoryBlue journey, he’s well on his way and ready to shed light on his success.

SDR Jack Klaas career path quote and footprints in the sand. Following the Family Footsteps

A rare find indeed, Jack had his sights set on a career in sales from a young age. Watching his grandfather and father — two of his biggest heroes — forge their fortunes in the sales industry inspired Jack’s ultimate career aspirations. Talent must run in the family because Jack is certainly continuing a monumental legacy in his role at memoryBlue.

Outgoing, confident, direct, and driven are just some of the words that come to mind when describing strong candidates for professional sales careers, and they certainly apply to Jack.

His degree in finance from West Virginia University gave him skills to help manage and protect his earnings. But memoryBlue provided Jack the opportunity to earn the money needed to put those skills to use.

Healthy Competition Fuels Career Growth

Jack has certainly demonstrated how far determination, grit, and a starting point at memoryBlue can get you in this industry. “If you’re willing to work hard, the sky is the limit,” Jack remarks. “You could be making hundreds of thousands of dollars just five years into this career path.”

“It’s about connections. It’s about leveraging  and expanding your network. Pick up the phone and speak with people,” Jack urges. “Know what you want and then reach out to people. Don’t be shy. It’s other people who will provide you with opportunities, not resumes or letters after your name. Relationship building, network growing, reputation cementing — that’s the true and long-term value of what memoryBlue provides.”

What’s holding you back from achieving the things you want? What do you think you’re missing? What do you think you need? Whatever the answers to those questions are, it’s unlikely that any of them are truly impeding you from accomplishing your goals. The things actually needed for success are learnable, growable, and most importantly, available — if you know where to look.

The numbers are shocking:

3x Faster SDR Ramp Time 60% Alumni Earning 100k+
SDRs coming out of memoryBlue hit or exceed quota at 3Xs the rate of the average SDR. Just 3-years after memoryBlue, 60% of alums have annual earnings at or above 100K.
89% Alumni in Closing Roles $250K+ Income at 10+ years
89% of memoryBlue alums have closing roles — the highest-earning roles in sales — within 2-years after memoryBlue. After 10-years, 64% of memoryBlue alumni still in sales have earned 250K or more in a year.

And the return on investment is obvious.

The high-tech sales industry certainly allows for exponential gain, but breaking into it and getting the right training and experience can be the difference that dictates the rate and degree of your success; memoryBlue increases both tenfold. “I’m truly grateful for memoryBlue,” Jack says. “They take a risk on a lot of entry-level people and give them an unparalleled chance for quickly achieving amazing careers.”

Perseverance Leads to Profit

Jack may boast a high roller reputation now, but he started out as an SDR with a lot to learn. Like most things in life — talent, smarts, and luck will only get you so far. Nothing worth doing comes without a lot of hard work.

His first memoryBlue client specialized in cloud storage, and Jack candidly described it,

“It was tough. I spent the first two months getting my butt kicked. I got really destroyed on the phones. In my first month, I only had two meetings go down, and I was supposed to have eight, so it was a rude awakening.”

But thanks to Jack’s competitive drive, this rocky start was short-lived. He doubled down on his efforts, upped his call volume by over twice the expected output, and ultimately achieved a complete 180 in his career trajectory.

“I worked extremely hard,” Jack says. “I got a lot of pride out of outworking everyone else. I wanted to be the number one dials in a day, number one dials in a week, number one dials for the month SDR. And that was my goal, just output. Control the controllable.”

There are highs and lows to everything in life, but Jack maximized every opportunity that memoryBlue provided and has a tremendous amount to show for his efforts.

  • In July of 2020, Jack started as an SDR, and in less than 3-months, began a trend of hitting or exceeding quota.
  • In early 2021, he elevated to an elite internal SDR team, upping his earning potential and hitting his stride.
  • Just 2-months into being on that team, Jack had a whopping $14,000 monthly bonus awarded.
  • By July of 2021, Jack was the top performer in the entire company, spanning six offices and over 275 SDRs for the month.
  • One month later, due to outstanding performance, Jack received an offer from his client for a key position on their internal sales team.
  • Jack accepted the offer and will join their ranks in January of 2022.

Pathways that lead to noteworthy careers are laid out and well-traveled at memoryBlue. Jack describes his experience here as, “World-class. The company culture and training program is better and more comprehensive than anything else out there.”

Manifest the Future Career You Want

In line to become another role model alum, Jack relishes hitting and blowing past the typical benchmarks. After surfacing a lead for his memoryBlue client, specializing in comprehensive cyber security partnerships, a deal with a total contract value (TCV) of more than $340k was closed. His attention to detail and lead sourcing skills acquired at memoryBlue subsequently landed Jack an impressive commission and a job offer from the client.

What would tenacious, determined, industrious Jack impart to anyone ready to take the first step on their tech sales career path?

Jack recommends immersing yourself in a culture of like-minded people and using their successes to ignite your own. He thrives off the wins of his teammates, seeing them as an opportunity to learn something, modify his own game, and break through to the next level.

“Besides money? I’m totally motivated by proving people wrong,” Jack answers in a light-hearted but earnest tone. “When someone tells me I can’t do something, or that something is impossible, it’s like adding fuel to the fire, and I will not stop pushing until I do exactly what they said I couldn’t.”

Jack didn’t allow initial uncertainty, lack of industry experience, or any other number of limiting beliefs to stand in the way of what appears to be the beginning of an impressive and rich career.
